Suspended former Notts cricketer Brendan Taylor was ‘let down’ by his national board | CBJTarget

A former Nottinghamshire batsman handed a suspension for a match-fixing plot was let down by his national association, a prominent Zimbabwean lawyer and cricket fan has claimed.

Brendan Taylor, 35, played for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club between 2015 and 2017.

But last week he was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for three years for a corruption breach and an anti-doping violation over cocaine metabolites found in his system.

The inspirational founder of the Nottingham School of Boxing says the cost-of-living crisis means some parents can no longer afford to send children to his classes.

And social justice campaigner Marcellus Baz has warned soaring energy bills and imminent council tax rises are draining his organisation’s resources.

A Nottingham social care worker is running an online webinar to help unpaid carers who have battled through the pandemic ‘without support’.

Rebecca Robbins, who works for the Nottinghamshire Carers Hub, says those looking after loved ones have often felt isolated due to Covid restrictions.

Mrs Robbins – who also cares for her blind husband – has planned two webinars later this month to support unpaid carers.

The Bees endured a slow and miserable start to the season under Kewell. They looked bereft of direction and hope in those opening weeks and results showed as much.

The first chance of the game came in the 11th minute – following an amazing defensive block from Sam Beard, my Man of the Match, in the Barnet penalty area.

Spirited Bees knocked out of FA trophy

Barnet were knocked out of the FA Trophy on Saturday afternoon after an unlucky 3-2 loss to local rivals Boreham Wood.

Boreham Wood, who currently sit third in the National League, only had two substitutes on the bench and visited the Hive with a depleted squad.

The Bees opened the scoring in the ninth minute when winger, Rob Hall, found space on the edge of the Boreham Wood penalty area and his deflected half-volley found the back of the net.

Since the 2017/18 season, Arsenal have conceded 19 goals in 5 trips at Anfield, conceding an average 3.8 goals per game during this time.
